microwave fine cuisine.

yes, you’ve read right. apparently people used to think of microwave cooking as fine cuisine, something that could somewhat be along the lines of gourmet food… what the hell were they thinking! even today, in 2010, people don’t even use them (as far as i’m concerned) unless it’s to heat up something quick, or make popcorn. i was at this one thrift store yesterday, and they had hundreds of books about microwave cooking. i had honestly never seen such a thing in the past! i almost got one of them cause i thought it was so absurd. and i looked at some of the recipes, and people really seemed sure of themselves with that stuff; baking brownies in the microwave? grilled salmon & vegetables? apple pie? what the hell!!!! reminds me of when people would think that skin cream and makeup with mercury was the coolest thing back in the 50s.. up until they found out it was cancerous…

i’m thinking of starting a new website. not that i would ever stop posting blogs here. i mean, just a little side website. it’s not gonna be much. i just thought i’d be great to have a website to post daily random pictures that i take. because i really do always take pictures of random things, random places, food, etc… mainly with my iphone now, because i have it on me at all time, and it’s light to carry around. let me know what you think. i’ll start working on it. it would be some kind of a TUMBLR looking thing.

i’ve posted this new picture on my deviantart, you can check it out by clicking here. let me know what you think! there are so many new pictures that i need to post over the next week or two, i’ve been doing shoots pretty often lately!

i’ve posted a new picture on my lookbook, you can check it out by clicking here! and you can see it on deviantart as well, here. me wearing blue jeans? yes! you’re seeing right. a once in a lifetime thing. i couldn’t help but fall in love with that pair.

i’ve been dealing with bad allergies lately, which has been pretty annoying. i assume it’s because of spring. it’s strange though, because i usually don’t get allergies, unless i travel somewhere. two nights ago i had to email back the university with descriptions of courses i’ve completed while i was at Dawson, because sometimes the name of the courses written on your transcript doesn’t say much. and in order for me to be granted the credits, they need to make sure that the courses i’ve done match their first year courses. and writing the email to them was one of the weirdest things… it’s so hard for me to sound formal in an email… and capitalizing i’s? i can’t for the sake of my life. at least, not on a computer. i find they look weird capitalized, as if just a bar or line. anyway, the point is i’m glad i had my friend helping me write the email, because otherwise i would’ve made myself sound like a fool. my email went from sounding like a yo what’s up email for a friend to hello mr. president of the united states how do you do, type thing.

a little while ago i tweeted about how i really wanted grey suede loafers. i looked, and looked, and looked for a pair, in possibly most shoe stores, and store carrying shoes in montreal. and then, just last week, i thought, why not looking at urban outfitters? they’re pretty big on the fake vintage look & such, and suede loafers, when you think about it for a second, sound like something you’d find there. and ta-da! found some! now let’s get to the sad part of the story. the first day i’ve worn them… they hurt my feet like there was no tomorrow, and got super dirty. now, try to clean suede. honestly not the easiest thing. i’ve been contemplating returning them.. but then picture yourself returning a pair of dirty shoes that look like they’ve been worn in a minefield. they’d probably just say “no thanks bye.” so i’m left with my dirty suede shoes. google.com, a good friend of mine, suggested to get a suede brush, and brush the dirt out, and then use some kind of mix of water and vinegar to clean the rest. still, i might try one day.

p.s; i cannot wait for kate nash’s new album to come out. the first single is so great. it’s so rare that an artist is able to top their successful first album.

past, present and future.

after my parents getting separated, some of my good friends becoming drug addicts, other friends becoming social climbers, and other friends backstabbers, i really thought it was the way life was going to be from now on, and that the only thing to do was… to deal with it. but then months passed, and i met new people, i found my true passion – then applied to university into photography, i got a boring job to save money for university, i’ve been using my free time to build up my photography portfolio, and it’s all just been a routine. and then! a few days ago, in the mail, i got something that made life all that amazing again. I WAS ACCEPTED AT THE UNIVERSITY I APPLIED TO. honestly, the wait – it was terrible. i applied february 1st, then had to do a portfolio assessment/interview at the end of february, and only got the answer this week!

now i only need to figure out the credits transfer, the letter did say that my portfolio assessment plus art courses i’ve already completed would make up for the seven art courses there, and now all i need to figure out is which three courses i’ve completed in the past could make up for the 3 liberal credits. and why all this credit transfer business? because i applied for advance standing, which means i get to skip the first year, which is general art, and go straight to my photography major in second year. the program, like most universities, is four years long. a year, is a lot of time. so i’m glad for it. and why am i able to skip a year? because i’ve already graduated Dawson College in Arts & Culture, which is pretty much just like their first year of general arts. doing the first thing all over again… no thank you!

so now i have to plan tons and tons of things! like moving out. finding an apartment. figuring it out which part of the city i want to live in. finding a new job. it’s all exciting though. it’s just gonna be a little weird to leave Montreal. i’ve lived here all my life…. and i love it, really. but i’m happy in a way that i have to move for university, it’s gonna be a nice change. it’s lame to spend your whole life in the same place. you need adventures. you need to discover new things, new places. so Toronto is where i’ll be spending the next three years. and who knows where i’ll be going after that!

i’ve posted a new picture on my lookbook, you can check it out by clicking here. i know, the whole army idea can come off as cheesy and wrong, but it was inspired by one of my favorite poems called DULCE ET DECORUM EST by Wilfred Owen. i had to study war poetry back in college for an english class, and i loved everything about that particular poem. the writing is phenomenal. if you’re interested, you can read the poem here. and in case you’re a deviantart user, the picture was also added on mine here.
