made in canada.

i’ve posted a new picture on lookbook, you can check it out by clicking here. the hoody i’m wearing is an official hoody for the 2010 olympic games which are in Vancouver, Canada this time. and the profits, i believe, support the games so i decided to get one, they’re so comfy and soft. aren’t even that expensive either, this one was around 50$ CND. if you live in Canada and would like to get yourself one i think they only sell them at The Bay.

can you believe that new year is tomorrow night? it’s kinda crazy! 2010; gonna have to get myself used to write it down instead of 2009. i do think 2010 sounds better and looks better. and we’re entering a whole new decade as well! i’m not even sure yet what my plans are for new years, i think i’m going to visit some family in Ottawa for a few days, from the 31st to the 2nd. but nothing is ever too organized with my family, so i’m not even sure yet.

i’ve posted this new picture that i’ve taken of someone i know called Damien on my deviantart here. i know, he does have somewhat similar looks, but don’t get confused, it isn’t a picture of me! i might end up using it in my portfolio, remember how i need to build up this one portfolio for my university application? it’s been hard to work on it lately because of snow… but i’m definitely gonna try to find some models to do studio work.

i went to see Avatar 3D with my sister and dad last night. we were actually gonna go for the 3:10pm one, but when we got there it was sold out. then we got tickets for the sherlock holmes showing at 3:10pm as well but when we got to the room it was fully packed as well. so we ended up just exchanging our tickets for the 6:40pm showing of Avatar 3D and we just killed time downtown. it was a little annoying to have to wait so long doing nothing. we didn’t feel like going back home because the theater is a little far! we pretty much had to start waiting in line around 5:30 in order to make sure we had good seats, so we would’ve gone back home just to go back to the theater five minutes later. the movie was amazing though! you barely notice the 3D; it isn’t one of those movies where a huge monster pops out the screen and scares the crap out of you. it’s really just more realistic looking, and the whole experience is different. i love the values that are conveyed in the movie, and the way that it portrays us human – what we’ve become – is very interesting. i suggest you to see it. i know… some people do say that it looks stupid and ridiculous but once you get past the idea that you’re watching a movie filled with computerized blue creatures, it actually gets very good and entertaining.

a tsunami has hit the store.

work was so busy yesterday… they even made me stay 2 hours and a half longer just so i could help cleaning up. you should’ve seen the store, it was as if there had been a tsunami the previous day – well there was the boxing day – and just now it came to my mind that maybe some of you don’t have the concept of “boxing day” where you live, so in a few words it’s a huge sale that happens every year the day after the 25th in retail stores. usually people go so crazy about it that they wait hours and hours outside in a line up until the store opens. and i personally find the concept kinda stupid because most the things on sale on the boxing day (26th) were usually already on sale a week prior to it… or there might be an additional 25% in some places. however, it keeps the economy going, which i guess they need right now. but boxing day is definitely not from yesterday. and in the united states, i think they have something similar but it’s after thanksgiving, it’s called black friday. i guess theirs make more sense though… since it gives an opportunity for people to show for xmas presents BEFORE xmas, while ours is after xmas. if you receive your present on new years with the excuse that they hadn’t found one before, well.. maybe it’s just that they wanted to take advantage of the big sales! …. kidding!

the picture above this post is of my sister. we took it the first night i got my new flashes for my photo studio. it was really just to test them, so she isn’t wearing any makeup, i think she was going to bed, it was pretty late. i really like the picture though, it’s spontaneous and cute! i posted it on deviantart here, in case you wanna check out the larger version!

i’ve also re-posted this one to my lookbook. you can check it out by clicking here. if you don’t remember my post about it, lookbook had deleted it because “my knees were showing in the picture and it wasn’t considered a look”, so here it is, in addition of a second picture – with my knees clearly visible – hopefully it wont be deleted a second time for another silly reason! i haven’t had another look flagged yet though, so it’

holidays etc.

i’ve posted a new picture on my lookbook, you can check it out by clicking here. it’s also been posted on deviantart here. it’s pretty much what i was wearing for our Christmas dinner yesterday. i didn’t wanna look/feel overdressed so i wore jeans with the dress shirt.

our night was alright…. it was with my dad’s family this time, and we don’t really have much in common with his family so it wasn’t as fun as our night with my mom and hers on the 24th. also we stayed home, so it made it a little boring, and i hate the typical Christmas food. on the 24th we went to Madisons New York Grill & Bar and it was amazing. i love their food. it’s always so good. it’s a little pricey, but it’s definitively worth it. it didn’t feel like Christmas at all this year though, maybe it’s because what our family has been through lately, but it just seems like every year christmas gets less special. it’s hard to explain. maybe you get what i’m trying to say. hopefully new years will be more fun!

i’m more than happy about my Christmas present though, i think it’s the best one i’ve ever gotten. i got the Elinchrom D-Lite4. basically it’s a set of two big flashes/softboxes for my photo studio. Elinchrom is a brand from switzerland and so far i’ve only heard good things about their products. i’ve used one of them in the picture that i’ve taken of my Christmas outfit. i’ve still got to figure out how to use them properly, i’ve never really worked with flashes before, but so far i love them!

oh, and happy holidays to all of you.
i hope you’ve been having a great time so far!
let’s all keep it positive and look forward to the new year!
